Great Roots LLC is owned and operated by Laura Mendoza Romero.

Laura Mendoza Romero cofounded a business teaching people to sustainably grow food in Mexico, where she worked for over 5 years before moving to Minnesota. In 2021, She met a long time shoreline restoration consultant named Shelley Larson and began working together. After nearly 20 years of restorations, Shelley retired, passing her knowledge to Laura.

Laura started Great Roots in 2022, utilizing the natural restoration techniques she had learned. Since its foundation, Great Roots has helped landowners achieve their goals of protecting their shoreline and creating habitat for pollinators and other wildlife in Aitkin, Cass, Crow Wing and Pine Counties.

Our motive

As stewards of the land we have a responsibility to do things that will help us live in harmony with our environment.

Working together, our actions can have a better and greater impact. That is why we do our projects with the help of the landowners, their families, friends and neighbors. Working this way also raises awareness about the importance of ecological restoration.
